Ingredients

4 cups bread flour

1 tbsp granulated sugar

1 1/2 tsp salt

2 tsp instant yeast

1 1/4 cups warm water (110°F/45°C)

1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

1 tbsp honey (optional, for boiling water)


Instructions

  1. Make the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together bread flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
    • Gradually add warm water, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for 8-10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
    • Gently fold in blueberries, being careful not to crush them too much.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  2. Shape the Bagels:
    • Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
    • Shape each piece into a ball, then use your thumb to poke a hole in the center and gently stretch it to form a bagel shape.
    • Place the bagels on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let rest for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Boil the Bagels:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add honey (if using).
    • Boil the bagels in batches for 1 minute on each side. Remove with a slotted spoon and return to the baking sheet.

    • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
